My six string bass is nearly 6cm at the narrowest point** A: Narrowest point on my hanger is 4.5cm, that is at the end of the two black finger tips and 5cm inside. Might be able to part them a little although it does feel quite sturdy. **Q: Would this be suitable for an Ovation with a full sized bowl ?** A: Not sure how deep the full contour bowl of an Ovation is. It would depend on this and the centre of gravity of the guitar as to whether it would hang clear of the wall. If not, what size and length are required for mounting on a solid wall?** A: When I bought them, they came whit screws, from memory gauge was about size 4 (old Imperial No.8), length 60 mm. If screws are no longer supplied, common sense us required here; the screws need to be sunk a minimum of 2” (50 mm) into the wall, plus however much depth of timber the mounting blocks provide probably 10-12 mm. So 60-65 mm No.4 screws. **Q: Can this be used for a cello?** A: It would very much depend on the design of your instrument. This hangar relies on there being a change in width on both sides of the headstock where it joins to the fingerboard, as with the vast majority of guitars. The width of the hangar is adjustable, but you need to be able to support both sides of the instrument below the headstock. Cello designs often have no "shoulder" where the fingerboard and headstock meet.
