Superstar: Back Lawn 10kg

I have tried all the grass seeds you can think of with all the (very earnest!) promises they all came with. Most are frankly crap - but this is absolutely brilliant!! It does all that it promises that it will, grows quickly (and thickly!) and looks totally superb. I will never buy anyone else’s grass seed - ever!! You can buy this grass seed with TOTAL CONFIDENCE and know that it will definitely work. It come superbly packaged in a smart recyclable/reusable bag with a detailed instruction sheet. I was hugely impressed!! Fantastic product. Fantastic service. Can’t recommend The Grass People highly enough. Awesome!!

Bought at £13.50, this product seemed a little pricey for plain seed - but it gave me a whole new lawn..Shipping note: The item arrived quickly and well-packaged.Unlike many of the reviewers here, I am not a professional gardener - and until recently had never even had a lawn - so my experience is very limited.That said, the growth of the lawn was very uneven, and once I had cleared moss there were large grass-less patches. Much of the lawn is in near-permanent shade, while another part is almost always wet. Having read up on the various options, I was not optimistic, but tried one of the more expensive combo-seeds, which also included coir, and followed the instructions carefully. I sowed only the larger patches (20-30 cm), and the results were very, very poor. What little grass appeared was in separate clumps, and, having long (10-15 cm), relatively broad (6-8 mm) and 'juicy' blades, it looked entirely unsuited to be mowed for a lawn.Willing to try another approach, I ordered some of this Grass People seed, and again carefully following instructions, seeding the whole area, with a slightly heavier seeding on the patches. A week later, an even carpet of little blades of grass appeared. Two weeks later, and, by comparison, the lawn now looks like green velvet.. It mows beautifully, leaving clear two-tone stripes.Best of all, the cover was even across the dry, the shaded, and even the wet areas.Certainly, this seed-only solution was a little more work, but I am sure that the raking and treading really made a worthwhile difference. Germination a bit slower than expected (about 8 days) but after germinating it thickened up very quickly. Grass has good colour and is also hard wearing, looks great and is pleasant to walk on.

This is by far the best grass seed I have ever used. Germinates really well and grows strong.

This is really good grass seed. I spread the grass seed rather generously over freshly raked soil. I covered the grass seed with compost in a thin layer and then watered and watered and watered .... On the 20th I noticed the first signs of grass coming through. We had several days of rain after that that and now on the 29th October my lawn looks beautiful and lush. For the first time in ages I have a lawn to be proud of. I would highly recommend this grass seed as you as opposed to what you can get from the high street. It's far more cost affective and another plus is its delivered to your door. I couldn't be happier! Try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

I have used this in the past a few time. This covers with nice green thick grass but it does come with weeds in it which have proven difficult (if not impossible) to get rid of without damaging the grass. The weeds have only come up where I have sown the seed. Mixed feelings on buying again, possibly a dodgy bag, who knows.

Prepared the areas needing product well. Not sure why, but this seed simply did not produce much grass in one particular area. Tried a second time with limited success. However, other areas developed quite well. A bit hit and miss, but overall it is ok.

I've used shop bought big brand grass seed from a superstores before and had little success though to be fair it's usually been a bit of throw it on and hope for the best. I've never fully researched and put in the appropriate planning and preparation which I decided might help this time (thanks to the Lawnsmith advice). As use of this seed was part of a whole process to overseed our existing front and back lawn I'm sure the whole process was to thank rather than just this product, but ultimately it's all pointless if the seeds don't grow! We followed the advice on the website for the 'back lawn' which were easy to follow and the results are excellent. The original photos are from having placed the seed down with soil but as you can see the process (moss killer, machine scarification after 2 weeks, lawn fertiliser before seeing, seeding with some top soil and regular watering morning and evening has turned the garden from very mossy, burnt, yellow and thin grass to thick, green and full. In 2 weeks the was good growth appearing and the photos are after 4 weeks. Even areas which I thought hadn't taken after a couple of weeks have come out thick and bare patches / holes have been filled. There was a strip of soil which was completely fresh (not overseeding) which didn't seem to take at all but I expect that more than likely dried out so my fault. Loads more left to use from the 10kg bag in future so glad it worked so well. Finally some grass seed that works!
