Soft fabric that feels pleasant, and at least so far the glass beads are well distributed. Feels like a good quality blanket.Make sure you read the reviews before ordering, to get a sense of the sizing. After reading other customers' comments, I realized that the "full size" was going to be too small for my full size bed and went for the queen size. I'm glad I did. The length is longer than it needs to be (it hangs off the end of the bed, which is fine), but the width exactly covers the width of the full-size mattress. (In other words, be aware that the queen-size blanket is quite a bit narrower than a queen-size mattress.) No idea why they say it's "cooling" though - I find it quite warm, especially after the glass beads have taken on my body warmth. There's 15 lbs of thermal mass, so it is easy to get overheated in the middle of the night. Fortunately my side of the bed is by the window, and even in summer it gets cool here at night, so I can leave the window cracked open, which seems to be working for now.
