Followed instructions on how to install the RAM into my iMac from the Apple website. Make sure you follow the section for the correct model. After restarting my Mac, screen remained dark few seconds longer than usual and the loading screen was also slower. This is normal as the RAM is being initialised. When the machine eventually started, I tested out various apps e.g. photoshop, GarageBand etc and they all ran noticeably smoother. The other test I carried out was to run Windows X on Parallels. On 8Gb RAM it was sluggish. With 24GB RAM it runs as smoothly as if I had run it via Bootcamp. Games which previously were unplayable ran smoothly.
