The foam is quite dense, neither good nor bad. But depending upon what you are looking for and how it fits your particular back, it might be a bit irritating. I found putting a small piece of cut-off swim noodle foam under it to raise it up 2" helped with the conform and effectiveness. This is without question THE most uncomfortable lumbar support I’ve tried yet and I have tried several. It’s too low, too curved (tight for adults and I am thin) and much too firm. It doesn’t flex at all. If you’re looking for something hard as stone to stick against your extreme lower back I suppose this is perfect for you. It creates a void above it, so the remaining 3/4 of your back has no support at all. It’s terribly uncomfortable regardless of seat position. I couldn’t imagine what would happen to my back if I were rear-ended with this installed. I tried this in a Tacoma, 4Runner, Fiesta and Lexus GX with the same results.
