It was identical to the original failed photocell device that it replaced, except the molex connector wiring was different, so I had to remove the wire nuts and install their harness, then plug the photocell into their molex connector. There's a wiring diagram right on the body of the photocell itself and it's really straight forward. If you're at all comfortable with electrical wiring, and know how to properly use wire nuts, this photocell is a piece of cake to install. The new photocell works perfectly and just as well as the original. It comes with a short little tube around the actual photocell, in case the photocell is located in a very bright area. Mine faces away from the sun, so I twisted off the little tube and it activates at dusk perfectly. The backside of the sensor is a weather-sealed cylinder that's 1 & 3/8" in diameter, which fit perfectly in my lamp post. 10/10 would buy again. Review: Perfect fit - Works great. Not all bulbs are compatible with photo cells. Make sure to check the fine print on the bulb packaging to ensure photo cell compatibility. **Q: How do I contact this seller? I had a faulty switch, sent them my address, but received a message that they did not receive my message** A: Not sure I didn’t try returning it through Amazon it failed within a few weeks of installing it. Sometimes it’s easier to not deal with Amazon. So I found one though Lowe’s and bought 2 and packed up the broken one and returned it to Lowe’s and kept the other one as a back up since you can’t rely on anything that is made in China. And it’s easier to return stuff through them. **Q: How long does it need to be dark for the switch to activate?** A: basically when other photo cell lights come on other homes, I used put a piece of black electrical tape over the photo cell to make sure I was done. Works fine. Last one lasted 10 years same type **Q: if I cover the sensor in daylight will the post light come on to test bulb?** A: Yes, if it was wired correctly, it will come on test the bulb. Perfect replacement for my old one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great, installed in 10 minutes in a 36 year old lamp post *by H***E on June 15, 2023* I put in the original lamp post and light in 1987 with the last sensor being installed in 2016 from on hand stock. That sensor gave up the ghost recently and I dropped by HD and Lowes to find a replacement. No go at either because it seems that manufacturers have opted for light bulbs with sensors so no need for whole post types. The problem is my light takes 4 candelabra bulbs and those bulbs are uncensored. I didn't want to spend 200 to replace the fixture so searched Amazon and found this beauty. Rewiring was a breeze taking 15 minutes because I had to remove the old plug connector. The sensor was a perfect fit in the mounting hole and everything tested perfectly. A TIP: Rather than open the circuit breaker to cut power to the post (and a whole bunch of other things in the house) find the in GFCI for the outdoor circuit and press the test button. Power for the lamp and any outdoor outlets is cut and can be easily restored by pressing the connect button on the GFCI. The GFCI is required for circuits near water so look in the kitchen, bathrooms, or on an outlet near the panel. Saves hunting through the panel and maybe the need to use the old hit and miss method of throwing breakers to find the right one.
