Once they are stretched they are good to go until the next time they are washed. **Q: Will this work for a small waist?** A: I have a small waist I'm foot 5' 6 And weigh about 130 pounds. I bought this device because someone gave me a pair of real leather pants and the waist fit tight. I got the waistline of the pants wet and used the stretcher and I was able to stretch out the length of the waistband about 1 inch. It work for me! **Q: Are the plastic pieces supposed to be perfectly straight? I just received this product and it's very warped. Is it damaged?** A: All my plastic pieces are straight and not bent. It most likely would not work right if the pieces are bent as you need the straightness in order to expand or contract the stretcher correctly. I would return it for a replacement, if you still can. **Q: How does the clamp part work? Does it open?** A: Simply dampen the jeans then open the blue/green knob and open clamp. insert jeans at waist band at top button and then tighten knob to clamp the jeans and stretch . I think quality is OK but the stretch "screw" part should be longer because the diffrent size pieces are hard to fit into a pair of jeans that need stretching in the first place.
