In fact at one stage the wind was blowing so hard it broke one of my lightweight karabiners holding the tarp (continuous ridgeline) but the tie points all remained secure. The tarp is a little bulky, but it is a good size and allows you to place over the hammock with enough spare at each end to seal off and make a very cosy cocoon. As you would expect from DD, the tarp is extremely well made with reinforced corners and the new multicam pattern worked well in our wooded location. Or that really thin material that rips in the wind** A: This is not a thick, heavy canvas tarp, but they are strong enough to survive light wind. Obviously if it's a heavy storm then you'd need to take it down, but for camping/bushcraft use these are great. They're not designed to be left up as a permanent shelter. **Q: Is it strong enough to use it as a hammock?** A: Hi, its really good Tarp, but i wouldnt use it as a hammock, I dont think its strong enough to be used as a hammock... **Q: Do DD tarps come with instructions for various setups?** A: No, they don't come with any instructions, only a spec sheet on what attachment points there are. However, there are a few setups shown on their website and lots of options if you search on YouTube. They make great hammocks and the XL tarp provides extended cover in bad weather or as a large standalone shelter. The tarp comes with guy ropes and pegs, but you will need to add a ridgeline and a couple of small karabiners for most options, which DD also sell. **Q: Is there any insect netting that can be fitted to this? I don't fancy spending the night with mossies or ticks.** A: Hey, their no clips inside, but if the tent will be sitting on a rope anyway, you can connect the netting without any problems. Took it out the first time and it was so big I had to hang it sideways over my hammock, with more than enough to spare. Bonus is, this meant that I was able to close the sides in like doors at night to keep more heat in, without sacrificing and headroom for general tasks (like organising my boots and pack).
