I have this paired with a cheap DAC that is... adequate for my use case (being paired with the AKG K361 cans) and let me tell you, this amp does WONDERS for cleaning up the overall soundstage. I recommend turning the dial up and the switch down to the lowest setting where it mutes that static hiss you otherwise get from turning the music to its loudest, and then smoke a doobie and enjoy.With the headphones being what they are, I wasn't blown away by the sound, but I was startled by it. With the right virtualized HRIR (I recommend Dolby's Headphone DH-1 Studio) i had a few magic moments where i forgot i had the headphones on, and i thought the audio was coming from my speakers!What you think sounds the best will depend on the person though. People who like bass will probably turn the switch up, while people who like treble will probably turn the switch down. That's the beauty of the switch in my opinion, is that it caters to both types of audiences.
