**Q: is it actually made from monkey glands?**
A: it is not made from monkey glands. The name is not literal. South African is synonymous with using names from its environment,  people, animals etc to incorporate the heritage of the land. What is literal is the flavours and spices used which are native to South Africa. Another example is chakalaka, it originated in the townships of Johannesburg,  where different African languages are used. It's a spicy vegetable relish used on a maize meal dish called pap. Pap is an afrikaans word. As you can see everything links to the heritage of this beautiful land.

**Q: is this suitable for vegetarians?**
A: Yes, I'm a vegetarian myself so I also checked the first time.This is lovely stuff-I use it with many dishes.
