It is cheaper than buying the tray that comes with that high chair and it is more versatile. Since the arms of the high chair keep this tray in place, it doesn't matter that the suction is not strong. It doesn't have a suction though, more like a no slip grip. With my highchair I use, the mat is too wide, so maybe that's why it doesn't stick as well because it's not laying flat. But overall great purchase, can't believe I didn't have this month's ago!
