Quality appears to be quite good and the construction is decent so durability should be fine as well. It will arm and disarm the alarm for quite some distance (not measured) but at least 100 feet or more in a parking lot test. It uses an A27 type miniature 12 volt battery which, in my opinion, SHOULD last at least a couple of years, but the one that came installed in the alarm's original remote (already active when I got it from desertcart) only lasted about 4 months before it dropped below 11 volts and the remote's operation became erratic. I suggest getting a couple of extra batteries and keeping them handy just in case. That's the only fault I've found so far and not bad enough to keep me from giving the little remote a 5 star rating. I certainly recommend getting one as a spare or as as a second person's remote if necessary. We'll see how the battery holds up in this one.
