Great value for money. Works very well
I have never been very lucky with external drives like this in the past, so I wasn't expecting to be especially delighted this time around either, but I have to say I was wrong! This little thing does what says on the tin and very well - playing and burning.I bought this to go with my new Dell laptop with USB 3 but without an internal drive. I have a feeling that USB 3 is the thing that makes the difference with the performance of this external drive (compared to previous USB 2 external drives) because the response time of the drive is excellent, and clearly there is enough power available to the drive without an external power-source. My only other comment is that the external casing does reflect the price; it doesn't feel like a heavy-duty unit that's going to survive a drop, and the build quality is acceptable for the price, but not exceptional

This was a complete waste of money
This was a complete waste of money, I plugged it into my iMac (running high sierra) and set it to region 2, and put in a movie on a region free dvd-r, the green flickered on the front as it tried to load, and load, and load, and load.......nothing happened. I thought it may be a faulty disk so I tried the disk in my normal dvd player and it started fine. I put in a genuine region 2 copy of a new movie I bought and the same thing happened, it spun for ages, the eject button on the front wouldn't allow me to eject the disk at this point, so I had no choice but to let it keep reading it, a few minutes later a message came up on screen telling me I had inserted a 'blank' disk!, and asking what it should do, now I was allowed to eject it.I tried quite a few more disks, out of 10 dvd-r disks, it loaded 4 comfortably and refused to load 6, I tried 5 genuine region 2 movies (from the Harry Potter boxset).......every single time I 'eventually' got the message saying I had inserted a blank disk.It gets one star because it may come in handy as a coaster for my beer at a later date..........if you're using a Mac with the latest operating system, have a long think before buying this dvd drive.

Great purchase
I bought my son a cd as part of his birthday present and it would not play on his laptop as he wanted to burn it to iTunes. I saw this on Amazon and wasn’t sure if it would work. It arrived the next day and I am pleased to say it worked a treat. He was able to burn to iTunes and then download to his phone. One happy son and a grateful mom

Good drive - operates well
The drive operates very well and is fairly quiet - i.e. you do not get that motor or 'worring' noise, so very happy. The only minor points are the milling of the metal casing edges could be just a little smoother and the front plastic strip protrudes very slightly around the button. That said, would I recommend this drive, yes I and for the money I think it offers good value.

Fantastic!
What a fantastic little piece of kit. Amazing for the price. Just opened the box, plugged it in to my Macbook pro and away it went, burning off anything and everything in matter of minutes. Well impressed. Wish I had need to order more of these little guys!! :)

Rubbish died within 6 Month don't bother
Bought this Item April 2018 used it worked great It's now October 2018 I've used it twice. Went to use a third time it's dead none of my computer see it no lights no-one is home. It's been store in it's original box in the back of a draw I rarely open. If this item become available again DON'T BOTHER...I have since been contacted and received a replacement. While my opinion of the original kit remains unchanged. I feel the need to add the seller has gone out of their way to contact me and replace the faulty unit with a different one. I am now happy. Thank you...

Not good :(
I was looking for a portable dvd player for my gpd pocket. Looked good and I had high hopes but after receiving I plugged in and no icon came up, put in a disc and nothing! Just kept clicking and I couldn't even say if it was spinning! Disappointed I returned! Will look for sumit else

Great value for money. Performance is good, it has the looks alongside My MacBook Pro and seems quiet enough.
