## Description

The Vought F4U-4 Corsair was a US Navy fighter aircraft. It was produced from 1942-1952 by Vought-Sikorsky Aircraft. Corsairs were used by American units during the Korean War. In the initial period, there were dog fights between the F4U and the Yak-9 fighters, but with the arrival of the MiG-15, Corsairs in Korea were withdrawn to the role of support aircraft and night fighters. The first African-American US Navy pilot (whose life inspired a film script) sat at the controls of just such a machine. The Vought F4U-4 Corsair kit was released under the license of the Northrop-Grumman concern and contains 520 high-quality components. The historical pilot figure has been enriched with an additional head that can be mounted interchangeably. The fighter plane model from COBI was created with attention to the smallest details in a 1:32 scale. It is covered with high-quality prints that do not wear off even during intensive use. The cabin opens and a figure can be placed in it. Other moving parts include ailerons, a propeller and folding wheels. The printed markings refer to the heroic pilot from the Korean War. The whole set is complemented by a display plate with the name of the aircraft model printed on it. The Corsair by COBI also perfectly complements the other WWII and Korean war planes in 1:32 scale. It is one of the most beautiful block models ever made and always attracts attention due to the extremely characteristic appearance of hinged and folded wings.

I guess you could say that I like the idea of LEGO, because they are so ridiculously expensive to the point that I almost find it disappointing. I told myself I would only be tempted to buy a set if they had a plane worth putting together. Lo and behold, I found this model by a competitor, COBI. If this is an example of the quality and attention to detail you get from COBI, I can’t recommend them enough. Full disclosure, I’m 53 years old and I haven’t bought anything like this in over 40 years. COBI says their bricks are compatible with LEGO, but I honestly could care less. COBI makes reasonably priced items of vehicles that I find interesting to build. The only negative as far as my wife is concerned is that these brick sets do take up a lot of room, so you have to plan ahead as to whether or not you have a place for them to display. Anyway, back to this particular model it resembles an F4U Corsair. The gull wings fold up. It looks awesome. It was fun to assemble. I recommend this item if you’re into models, WWII planes and definitely Corsairs. I’ve already ordered my next COBI brick set, the 747. My wife can’t wait. ;)

I really like LEGO. I guess you could say that I like the idea of LEGO, because they are so ridiculously expensive to the point that I almost find it disappointing. I like this plane. It was fun to build but you need to open all the bags to find the parts you need for each step. The kit comes with two large bags and inside each large bag, there are several smaller bags. Only the large bags are numbered. Some parts needed for the initial steps are not in the first large bag, they are in the second large bag. Other than some difficulty finding a few parts, the plane is easy to build. In the instructions, it is tricky to identify a few parts because of the dark blue color. However, once you look through the parts, you can identify the part indicated in the instructions. The plan is well designed and looks like it should even though it is mostly made of blocks.
