Some need restringing. Will this work for those?** A: This product is for aluminum blinds. It may or may not match the thickness of existing cord, though **Q: how do you connect the cut ends together so that the cord does not have a knot in it?** A: A small knot is okay. But if you don't burn them together, they may come undone as you're threading it through the holes. Just take a match to the knot or the ends of each string. Should be easy to pull through. Mine went through inside a minute and works really well. **Q: What is the difference between traverse rod cord and lift shade cord?** A: I think they are the same. The lift shade cord is used to raise and lower blinds. The traverse rod cord is used to open and close curtains, side to side movement. The cords I think are the same.
