Normally I would shave that area of my arm, shower, dry off, prep with alcohol, place the sensor, then put the skin grip on top, leaving the backing on the middle part just in case I have to swap out patches before the sensor expires. After 1 or 2 shower the edges would start to fray, but most of time they would stay on at least for 7 days, if not the full 14. The removal process is pretty simple, especially if you leave the backing on the middle piece, as it doesn’t get stuck to the sensor. When I first started wearing it, I bumped my arm so many times and I admit, I knocked the darn sensor off at least 3 times. I don't know if you've had the pleasure of calling Freestyle to get a replacement sensor but it's work. They ask a million questions - it's a good 30 minute phone call. And if you are out of refills, you have to wait for the new sensor to be sent...going back to the old fashioned finger pokes in the mean time. No fun. I saw several different styles of covers and bought a few styles but there are by far the best. While it says they will last the life of the sensor - 2 weeks - I find I can get about a week out of one cover. I love the variety of colors you can get as well. Pastels and bright colors are my favorites. And I always pick the full covers. The one with the hole in the middle - absolutely not. They don't protect I highly recommend it.
