Cracking tends to happen if the product has not dried out. **Q: Is it ok to plaster\skim over the treated area?** A: My artexed ceilings were recently plaster-skimmed. The contractor recommended that I first coat a stain from a plumbing leak with "stain-block". Before skimming the ceilings, he scraped the texture from the artex and then applied a solution of PVA adhesive (it may have been Uni-bond). Hence the plaster skim was applied over the PVA solution which was over the stain-block. The stain has not re-appeared. **Q: Can i put this on painted walls?** A: In theory you can. Please be very careful though, as when I used it I ended up with a far worse situation than I had started with. To begin with, I applied one coat of damp seal on a painted wall, but it didnt work, and the bubbles in the paint kept coming back. Eventually I resorted to six coats of damp seal on a wide area of wall, not just the affected area,allowing a couple of days between each coat, followed by three coats of emulsion, and it still didnt work. On the contrary, the damage just kept getting worse.
