It's not a 62" bow. The AMO is 58". I ended up keeping it because it's a damn good bow and feels great in your hand. Also, the shorter length will be beneficial while stalking through thicker brush. They need to do a better job of packing the bow as well. The tips punched through the cardboard box and the plastic bag the bow was wrapped in while in transit. One tip went all the way through. Luckily it did not damage the bow. Review: Shoots as Great as it Looks! - Very pleased with the bow. As with most other bear products, you're getting a lot of bow for your money. Beautiful finish and lots of fun to shoot. It does have an exceptionally chubby grip, but it is very comfortable in hand. It's a fairly loud bow, so be sure to get the silencing goodies to help compensate for it. Not sure why, but it feels a bit heavier than other 50# recurves I've drawn, even other 50#ers in the bear line. They are worthless. **Q: What draw weight would be best for whitetail hunting?** A: 45 lbs is plenty for a whitetail. Fred bear hunted with that weight. Don't go under 40#. 50# or 55# may definitely be too much draw weight for a beginner recurve hunter. make sure to go to a bow shop and try a 40#, 45#, 50# bow before you buy anything. The biggest mistake beginner recurve hunters make is to get a bow that is too hard to pull back. Accuracy and precision are truly more important than draw weight with a recurve. depending on the arrow spine, draw weight and draw length, you'll probably want to go with a 125gr broadhead or heavier for whitetail as well. **Q: New to this and about to purchase this bow. what arrows (brand/length) and how many arrows should i get for the #40? any other gadgets needed?** A: We have some great Port Orford Cedar arrows manufactured by Rose City and branded for Bear.
