The smooth black finish looks clean and professional, and it went on easily with no need for a separate primer. Coverage was solid, even on older metal, and it dried to a tough, even coat. It’s ideal for outdoor jobs, weather-resistant and designed to last. I’ve used other metal paints before, but this one really stands out for ease of use and finish quality. No flaking, no fuss, just a reliable result. If you’re tackling gates, railings, or any exposed metalwork, this is a great choice. One tin went further than expected too, which was a bonus.

It was only one coat and although I may get another tin for giving certain areas a second coat, this is more down to the brushes used and workmanship. Dry time was pretty quick as well. A better painter with better brushes would no doubt finish the lot with one coat. 100% recommend. It's a lovey dark green and loves thick as it goes on. It does have a certain sparkle to it but it certainly makes an ugly item (such as courtyard fire stairs) look a hell of a lot better. Great value for money from this seller also

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is Hammerite heatproof, ie for a log burning stove flue**
A: If honest it's great paint,but for a log burner I'd get some vht (very high temp) paint!

**Q: Would this product be suitable to paint over oxidised aluminium? I have exterior light fittings that need spruced up.**
A: I agree with the other answers to date. Get rid of loose corrosion and any grease. Apart from this,  surface preparation does not have to be perfect. You will find that coverage is good. This is a good quick fix. Keep the rest of the tin (put the lid on firmly and give it a shake first) for any re-painting.

**Q: Can you use it to paint radiators?**
A: I have never used it indoors, so I can't be sure. The warning blurb says that it's flammable, but that's probably whilst in liquid form. There is a help centre, contact AkzoNobel Customer Advice Centre on 0333 222 7171 if you have any doubt. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

**Q: Is this paint ok to add thinners?**
A: I'm no expert but I would have thought that adding thinners would rather defeat the objective of this paint.  You might as well just buy ordinary black gloss paint which is MUCH cheaper but will NOT protect against rust and, of course, you will have to remove any rust first and treat that area before painting.

Great coverage. Done a small radiator and a couple of lengths of pipework with 2 coats, with about a third left. Tried hard to get a super smooth finish but there were some areas that cane out hammered. Not a problem and doesn't look bad, I was just aiming for a super smooth finish. Easy to wash off brushes with white spirit. Comes out quite runny but seems to thicken quite quickly, but jot to the point of being unusable. Consistently good outcome, so happy to keep buying and using
