So if you have a 12' kayak, and lift it 10' to the ceiling, you need to extend the wall bracket 10'. That means you need 10' + 12' of distance, or 22'. Disappointed, I returned the Harkin Hoist. Instead I purchase a RAD kayak hoist, which is far less expensive.
