## Description

Blur is the ultimate powered-up racing experience, dropping you into electrified action with a mass of cars targeting the finish line and battling each other as they trade paint in both single player and multiplayer action. Travel the globe from L.A. and San Francisco to Spain, the UK and more to take on the best the streets have to offer. Utilize an arsenal of power-ups like nitro speed boosts, shock attacks, defensive shields, and landmines to beat your rivals across the finish line. You choose how and when to use your arsenal of powerups for ultimate impact in a race where the outcome is never certain. In Blur the storyline plays out in the single player campaign. Here players assume the role of an up-and-coming racer who is looking to make a name for himself in the underground racing scene, but the competition is fierce. As you take on the series of races, you'll meet a bunch of recurring characters. Some of these characters will be rivals, others perhaps will act as mentors, and some may be something else entirely. The only thing that is certain in the world of Blur is that in a race there are winners and losers, and racers will do anything to reach the finish line first. Although filled with the beautifully elaborate racing environments, realistic damage effects and a long list of available cars usually only found in simulation racers, Blur is an arcade racer through and through. Its single player campaign revolves around the game's Career Mode, while in multiplayer there are additional options, including customizable cooperative and competitive races. In both of these though the second-to-second, fast-paced action is rooted in the wealth of powerups strewn throughout the track. These are addictive in their use and dramatic and devastating when used against opposing racers. With each successive race that players engage in they will use their collection of powerups to engage in vehicular combat of all sorts as they make their

Review: Powered up racing. - The game almost passed me by because it is not obvious that this is more mario cart meets project gotham racing. In general I find racing games very dull, but, with Blur you get the chance to destroy your opponents with a cunning variety of weapons that have a wonderful cathartic feel to use. To choose a game I do like to read reviews but the best way is to play a demo and then once I feel that addiction and buzz, buy the full thing. It's only because I played it on PC that I just had to get it for PS3. (Don't think there is a PS3 demo, might be wrong). Why this game? For me it was because you can just pick it up and play right away and get some satisfaction from it. I know these days that each game takes at least a few hours to get into and if you want to compete online you have got to actually put some 'dedication' in there to not find yourself trailing the pack. While this game is a good pick up and play it still manages to maintain longer term interest by adding cars, power ups and levels as you progress (standard stuff with most games). Blur does it well and to be honest I was surprised to find there is not additional content to download online. Bigger titles like Red Dead Redemption have a massive array up free and paid for addons. Blur does not. However, when you look at the beautiful credit sequence (just to chill out after a few hours intense online gaming) you will see that a huge team has been behind creating and perfecting this title. So in a way I don't feel this game has been abandoned in terms of marketing and addon content because the effort seems to have gone into producing a game that is finely balanced and massive fun. Online Experience Good: + Lots of people playing and of a good range of abilities. + A couple of minutes break between games. (To setup for the next game or dash to the loo). + Currently you get about 200 to 400 players online divided up into games of about a dozen players. Player tend to be from the USA, France, UK, Germany and more. Bad: - Occasion server just times out while loading leaving you left chatting to other players saying, "Err so is it gonna load?" Answer, No. Exit game and dash through all the menus again. - Not really enough players to occupy all game types. People mostly hang out on the first two (of about six or seven game types). - No option to watch an existing match while you are waiting to join (I mean in full 3D not a 2D map). - No gameplay tweaks released. I can't help but feel that there are a whole host of Activision titles out there that are quite respectable (Singularity, Brutal Legend EA/Activision) but don't quite make it to that critical mass. With some Little Big Planet style level tool this game could be as pervasive as Counter Strike. It would be nice to have more folks enjoy it online. If Sony could match the 360 for online play (full cross game chat anyone?) and Activision were to bring the best bits from the PC experience; Level tools and post release gameplay upgrades then games like this could realise their full potential. Massive fun with enough interest to leave the Eject disc button gathering dust.
Review: Fast paced game - Blur is a fast paced game. It driving style is great while you get powerups to get to the front.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Fast paced game
*by T***C on 7 July 2013*

Blur is a fast paced game. It driving style is great while you get powerups to get to the front.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wipeout on wheels
*by D***D on 18 August 2011*

This is a very good racing game. Think wipeout with wheels. If you want a serious racing sim - look away now. If you want an OTT arcade racer then welcome. There is plenty content in the single player as you rank up and progress through a series of challenges. You race on entertaining courses from old airfields to city streets at breakneck speed. You pick up weapons to blast your opponents whilst trying to steal the lead. It is very good fun and the nice graphics help. Handling is fine with a good sense of speed. However, the single player is a bit sterile and samey at times. Go on-line however and it is a very different experience. Super speed, aggression, ungentlemanly conduct has never been so much fun. This is the best way to play the game and if nothing else it is exciting. This is a very good arcade racer if you are interested.
