This was my first year studying this course and honestly, it is the best course I’ve ever studied - largely due to the workbook which made the lessons that much more easy to follow and memorise but also due to the manners of the teacher.A dear friend of mine invited me to study the course with her. We completed the lessons and workbook together and also memorised the surah together. I ask Allaah to reward her for her encouragement and invitation to rush towards the seeking of knowledge.The lessons are concise and relatively easy to follow. The workbook has prompts to help structure note-taking which is hugely beneficial. There are also weekly quizzes to check understanding as well as a final comprehensive exam consisting of 25 questions (multiple-choice) with an answer key. There is an encouragement to memorise the Surah and a guide for how to break this down so that you complete the memorisation in 30 days in a way that is not overwhelming. I found that memorising helped me remember some of the key points discussed in the lessons. The shaykh would often mention other ayaat in the qur’aan which were a beautiful part of the lessons, explaining the qur’aan with the qur’aan as the scholars of tafsir did.The shaykh has a beautiful relationship with his students at the masjid including the young and old and whilst we are not there with him in person, we nevertheless feel his love and concern for ahlul sunnah. From his beautiful manners, we’d hear him address the brothers in attendance by their kunya, the children by their names and he’d make dua for us all every day without fail. By Allaah, we looked forward to his lessons and by Allaah I make dua for our teacher and his family in sujood for what he’s benefitted us with this Ramadan. I ask Allaah to keep him firm and accept this from us and him.
