I'm a novice so guys please educate a brother? What makes these good faders? There are lots of good cutters available, do these cut closer or something?** A: These clippers do cut closer, the profile of the blade is thinner, so it cuts closer to the skin. The highest/longest setting is a zero (0), which is the shortest most other clippers go. This means that if you want a "high and tight" haircut you can get the sides really close, and then the adjustable blade range lets you fade up to the 0 setting. The fade is done manually and can be done with any adjustable clippers or by using attachments to get different lengths. This particular set of clippers is just capable of getting a very close, tight fade. I like to use magnetic guide attachments to allow for a longer top, and then get a close cut on the sides. Because of the lower profile blade the attachments are about a half number off though (a 2 is more like a 1.5). There are some good YouTube tutorials to learn how to do a fade. I also suggest using a pre-electric shave lubricant when using these clippers. It's just a liquid that you rub on your head before you cut and it helps prevent the clippers from catching skin. **Q: Are these clippers rebuilt?** A: Honestly mine don't seem to be brand new the blade was not straight so I attempted to unloosin the screws got one off the other one is so tight I have to use it like that! I was disappointed till I found a video on there site that you need to adjust the screw on the side. Work great after that. ### ⭐ Noise *by A***R on April 15, 2025* Update; andis hot in touch with me and explained how to adjust for voltage. But fast forward from April to August 2025, the clippers all of a sudden were working fine and now they just stopped cutting and I can’t adjust them.. Don’t know what happened to andis but their products are cheaply made and are not made to last. DO NOT BUT ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. Omg! These are so loud that the noise is deafening! Like my ears and head hurt literally. The sound is painful and vibrating. These are my third pair of Andis. I kind of had a feeling that paying $89 for this product after I paid $150 for my last two pairs of Andis clippers was a bad idea. And it was. After about 30 seconds they started humming so loud that multiple uses will lead to me having to see an ear specialist and possibly a neurologist. Terrible.
