My brother has a SYMA 106 (all plastic), its smaller & lighter & battery life is much much better. My personal opinion is that this metal verson is too big and too heavy for the battery that is fitted. Dont buy this, buy the earlier model. In the meantime I will investigate if a return and replacement for an earlier version is possible. I had mine for a few weeks while it seemed to work well. Then the battery would not hold a charge and was so weak that it would not lift off of the ground. Not a helicopter any more... **Q: can you fly it outside?** A: Not really. It uses IR to communicate, not radio, and direct sunlight causes too much interference. If you have a fairly open room, I’d just fly it around there. **Q: Is it easy to fly? I need a basic heli that my grandson can land on his eagle pro landing pad** A: This helicopter is extremely easy to fly after just a little practice.
