I would NOT recommend using lithium 14500 3.6 volt batteries in this unit, this would provide excessive voltage to the device's motor and could potentially damage it. **Q: I am unsure of the cleaning procedure. when i remove the cap i can't see any cut hair even after many uses. where are the cut hairs that accumulate?** A: I have only found the cut hairs in the sink I do the trimming over. The marks on the battery cover and head are small and initially hard to find. You need a well lighted room/area to see the small molded indents. A bit of white paint in the indents would be very helpful. So far, I have only used it once. As for function, it works great! Trimmed my inner graying nose and ear hair perfectly! Used the detail head shaver and cleared the outside ear hair and the pesky hair that doesn't quite grow out the tip of my nose. Cleaned up my mustache neatly and even used it on my eyebrows.
