It usually comes out clean if you put it through the dishwasher but needs a good shake afterwards. You can also try holding it sideways under warm running water for a min and then vigorously shake it over the sink. Try the other side and repeat. Do this with the lid closed and opened. **Q: Is there a way to keep the straw from rattling around? I use it in a quiet office and it so noisy.** A: You can get silicone bumpers that slide onto the straw on either side of the lid, to hold the straw in place and keep it quiet.
