Review: Suits my needs perfectly - I had a unique niche of a need for this clock- I game online regularly and thus easily lose track of time. I may be called away and answer I'll be there in five minutes, and 20 minutes later I step away from the game. I do have a wired alarm clock that's behind my gaming chair, but it's on the left side of my back, and I'm blind in my left eye, so turning to look at the clock is difficult. Yep, I have a smart phone, but fumbling with it during an online game isn't fun. I wanted a simple digital clock that wasn't wired, so I could position it by my TV where there's no outlets. This little guy fits the bill perfectly. Easy to set up, easy to carry around, easy to read. That's all I wanted and this clock does that. So while I can't comment on the alarm or the "night light" function (I do agree with other reviewers that calling a briefly backlit screen a "night light" is too much of a stretch), I can say that if you want a no-frills clock that doesn't need to be plugged in and takes common battery types, this is worth considering. Finally, since I have this perched right by my TV so I can easily see the time with just a quick gaze shift, I haven't moved the clock much. But I did drop it removing it from the box. It landed on carpeted flooring, but I'm about six feet tall, so it fell a distance. I doubt this would handle severe abuse but for your average drop and abuse typical with heavy travel, I think this clock can handle it. Oh! And in my experience, this clock is light (pun intended) on battery usage. Against the manufacturer's recommendation, I dropped in some rechargeable desertcart AA batteries, that were probably at a half charge or less. That was a few weeks ago and the clock is still keeping time with a bold display.

**Q: Can you dim the number on the clock or are they always illuminated? I am not speaking of the backlight which I know you can activate by pressing it.**
A: the backlight just stay on 5 seconds when you press the button, and then automatically turn off. 
the brightness cannot be adjusted. 
when the backlight turn off, you can't see the time in the dark.

**Q: Does the alarm go off even when just using battery backup?**
A: Alberto, I'm not sure what you mean.....the clock is run solely on battery power.  There's no other option (no electrical cord).  And yes, it does go off, but here's one caution I told people about in my Amazon review last year (see below):

I like everything about this little clock, but I can't rely on it to wake me up, because of my habit of using the "snooze" button a few times before I actually wake up and get out of bed.   I don't open my eyes to hit "snooze"--I just feel for the button with my hand.  Unfortunately, the "alarm STOP" button is not actually a separate button by itself, but is somehow embedded in the back right corner of the large "snooze" button.  So, while in a half-asleep stupor with eyes closed, if my finger happens to land on the back right corner of the snooze button, I am actually turning the alarm OFF!

Alarm turn off by itself after 1 minute if you have no response.

This is a very good item, just as advertised. If you're looking for something elegant and subtle, this ain't it. But if you'd benefit from big bold numbers, and a military-style look and feel, this is for you! This is not backlit at night. It lights up blue, as in photos, when you tap on the top, on a snooze bar or equal. So if you have it near a bed, it won't keep you awake, but provide the time, digitally, in big bold numbers anyone can see, with or without glasses, with the touch of a button. During the day, it is backlit enough, or visible enough, to see easily, big black numbers against a grayish background, with good contrast. The finish is a rubberized plastic which has a pleasant feel. Note: Best not to use alcohol-based wipes or cleaner or other harsh cleaners on this finish, or it won't last, in our experience with other similar items. A wet cloth should be plenty to clean as needed. We like this little item very much, and very reasonably priced. Enjoy!
