And do you really get 16 gallons out of a 1 gallon container?** A: Both are chelant technologies, water dazed, non hazardous, etc. our active ingredients are different and able to be concentrated. Yes it can make 16-gallons per concentrated gallon. Mix at 8-oz concentrate to 1-gallon of water and will remove same or more rust as any other. We are the original manufactures of this technology, may other companies buy our solutions. Dilute them and rebrand them as premixed rust removers. That’s why our concentrates are so inexpensive. I hope this helps **Q: can this be applied to remove the rust on a vehicle's frame or is there another product?** A: I do not know for sure if it can be applied on large parts. The directions says to "immerse" the part. I used it to clean the internal (water jacket) part of a Model A engine. I never did try it by applying to a part and letting the part set. It does take some time so you would have to keep the part wet all the time (probably at least a few hours) for it to work. For frame cleaning I used the POR-15 40701 Rust Remover. It worked pretty well on lightly rusted metal. **Q: Does Slight oil & grease effect it?** A: Cleaning the item down to rust only would likely get you the best results for removing the rust. It does NOT remove paint, primer, or body filler, but the manufacturer never claimed it does so. The parts to be derusted must be thoroughly stripped of paint before treatment with Rust 911, which can be a lot of work with today's wimpy paint stripper liquids. After treatment, the rust is transformed to a black film that must be brushed from the metal; I've found scrubbing with a stainless steel toothbrush works well. To loosen the film in hidden areas, like behind brackets, I pour a tablespoonful of steel BBs into the hidden area, tape off the holes, and vigorously shake the part. Then I remove the tape, pour out the BBs, and dunk the part back into the Rust 911 to flush the loosened particles. Several repeats of this procedure does a pretty good job removing rust from the hidden areas - slick! Even the non-rusted areas of the metal will have dark stains after treatment with Rust 911; they must also be scrubbed or sanded off. Then I rinse the metal with clear water and wipe it with phosphoric acid (metal prep) to prevent re-rusting. I also noticed if the part to be derusted is too big to be completely submerged, Rust 911 will etch a shallow groove into the part right at the waterline, which was a bit of a surprise.
