We've been spraying it on our metal cabin walls. Mist the walls with water before spraying, otherwise the foam will not adhere correctly. It will stick, but the powerful gun will cause air to push through on the parts that weren't stuck all the way. We've sprayed the walls when they were hot, in the early evening and cool in the late evening, after the sun has gone down. The dry time was about the same. Do be careful if you have respiratory issues. Definitely wear a mask, otherwise it will cause irritation in your lungs and throat. I have asthma and woke up in the night a few times having to breathe through my mouth because of the irritation from spraying. Cleanup afterwards is not so tedious. If anything is spilled or fell off the gun, just wait for it to dry and kinda chip it away. We also live next to a train, and after spraying the wall closer to the tracks, it didnt wake me up at all! No where on the can do I see Closed Cell, they talk about closed cell in description but they do not say this product is.** A: yes it is closed cell. **Q: How many cans do you need for 1" insulation on a 40x8.5x9.5 shipping container?** A: I am assuming that 8.5 is the with and the 9.5 is the height. Using length times width for each side and end. 40 x8.5 is 340 square ft. Two sides together will equal 680sq ft. Now the ends 8.5 x 9.5=80.75 square ft. There are two ends so mult. times 2 =80.75 square ft. =161.5 sq ft for the ends. Add the sides, and you get161.5+680= 841.5 square ft. I assume you want to do the ceiling also. ceiling is 8.5 wide and 40 long. 8.5 x 40= 340 sq ft. add them up and grand total is 1,181.5 sq ft. 24 cans does 480 square ft.
