It met that need beautifully. Assembly took some time, but it was straightforward with good instructions. The design provides really good stability and it is not flimsy at all. What's really nice is that with two screw knobs, it can be folded up and put on the side when not in use. It is pretty compact and the included mat is good for now. We'll probably upgrade to a thicker cushion in the future as the bar height gets raised and with more practice. All in all this is a good product for the money. Review: It is ok but not worth the price. The quality is alright price could be 180$ . The quality of mat was not in expected quality. The wood grain is printed or a sticker. Being outside will rust the metal parts and the UV damage the fiberglass but I'm guess your kids will be long grown out of it by then. **Q: My daughter is 84 pounds, would it support her weight to do back hip circles and chin up pullovers?** A: My daughter is roughly 70 lbs and when she does her back hip circle one of us adults have to stand on the brackets to keep it from moving too much. It holds the weight of my kiddos and I can even hop on it and I"m about 125 (though I'm sure that is not recommended. Took my husband a few hours to assemble but came together nicely and it is sturdy. My main complaint which is a pretty BIG one is that the mats do NOT fit the bar. So, basically you have the bars that stabilize it on the floors like poking up underneath it so it looks like ti doesn't go together AND on top of that the kids have hurt themselves dropping off the bar on to the mat. In retrospect, I should have gone with the more expensive option. One thing that is nice is that it does fold up easily if you wanted to store on the side. It is a good bar for the price but for young kids I would purchase a higher priced item from Tumbletrack with a mat that fits.
