## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long do these take to flower?**
A: This is my second season with little or no success. The first set of 10 was eaten by snails that were picked with some extraneous duckweed I picked up for free from a nursery. This second set has not been much better. To begin with, I had to rescar the seeds since they were not suitably done. So far I've been successful in sprouting 3 out 10 seeds. Even now, they are scrawny! I have more seeds to attempt to grow the Lotuses.

**Q: Should you dechlorinate the water for sprouting these ? Or just use chlorinated tap water?**
A: They might sprout in chlorinated water (I put mine in my koi pond), but you can get a de-chlorinator at any pet store where they sell fish if you want to be safe.  I think every one of mine sprouted.

**Q: Are these good for container/bowl planting?**
A: Either works based on preference.
Personally for me a bowl is nicer.
But they do need to have some substrate like mud to grow. I tried multiple ways to keep them only in water but they didn’t last.

**Q: keep seeds indoors in water until sprouted?**
A: Indoors or outdoors as long as the water temperature is maintained between 68 and 86 and the seeds/plants receive 4-6 hours of light per day.  Additional info is easy to find on the internet.

I purchased these seeds to conduct a scientific experiment for my college science class. I bought Loam soil and planted them then poured water in and they sprouted very quickly and to the point where I have to buy a large planter tub to put them in after my class was finished. Some seeds may rot at first and then sprout, so if they float do not assume they are automatically dead as a lot of websites claim. These seeds WILL sprout, you just need to make sure you have a lot of depth for them. Happy Planting!!

I threw these in a guppy tank in my science classroom thinking only a few would sprout, but they all did. The tank does get direct sunlight in the morning so maybe that has something to do with it, but the guppies love swimming among the stems.
