## Description

Product Description Sculpey UltraLight is the most versatile member of the Polyform family of clays. UltraLight is lightweight and extremely soft but bakes so hard that it won't crack or break, even in larger pieces. However, UltraLight remains flexible when rolled thin, so it is ideal for paper crafts. This soft, easy-to-handle clay can be used to create just about anything. UltraLight can be used as a filler for polymer clay beads, helping to keep jewellery - especially larger pieces - light and comfortable. Used to create decorative accents, the baked-hard clay can be sanded, drilled, buffed and painted with acrylic paints. This versatile new product even floats, making it perfect for floating candle holders or bathtub toys. Making Christmas ornaments that don't cause tree branches to sag is a trick with any craft. New UltraLight is the perfect medium for ornaments, especially large ones. UltraLight is a great replacement for tin foil armatures, offering a smoother base for clay projects to be built around. Because it bakes so hard that it won't crack, larger sculpting projects are finally possible with UltraLight foundations. In addition to accepting paint beautifully, when covered with Sculpey and Premo clays, the new ultra-light clay chemically bonds together with the covering material to make the final project even stronger. Sculpey UltraLight can be coloured by mixing it with Sculpey III or Premo polymer clay.Bake at 275 F (130 C) for 15 minutes per 1/4 in (6 mm) thickness. Safety Warning Ages 14+. Review: When you need it to be lighter - I bought this as i wanted the head of the anthropomorphic rabbit I was making to be lighter otherwise it would probably over balance by the time I added the ears etc. (I used regular polymer clay for the feet so the weight was down there). Works very well. It's easy to mould with a bit of kneading and shows tool markings well which stayed during baking. I've yet to paint my rabbit but on a test piece of clay it seemed to take acrylic paint very well and gave a good painting surface without any other priming. Price-wise there isn't much in but if you need something to be a bit lighter. then this is a great product.
Review: Never used this before…. - I was struggling to sculpt larger projects due to weight of clay, this is really good for building a foundation to build on top of and is much easier as smoother to work with than tinfoil. The only thing I don’t like about this is some parts are sticky and some parts are very dry, this means it sticks to your hands, when storing clay, I would keep this well away from coloured clays etc as the white will stick to other lumps of clay! I have got 3 sculptures of about 30cm in height out of one packet of this clay! (Bare in mind, I only made the base structures.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What temp does it bake at?**
A: I believe the correct temp is 275 degrees F.

**Q: Can i just air dry it instead of baking it?**
A: No, once you finish to model the mass has to be in OVEN BAKING for cure. If you let the raw mass for long term at air , days or months it seems that it would happens to hardening but actually you have to bake it to harden very well.

**Q: I'm making a very large ball jointed doll and have no idea what clay to use. I'm nervous about what's safe to bake in an oven, like wire and such?**
A: For polymer clay, for a large item with articulation, you might consider using Sculpey Ultralight. It's soft, sculptable, moldable, and very light due to its less dense formula. It comes only in white, but can then be covered with other polymer clay for color or design, or painted on directly. The other formulas of clay are heavier and more dense, which I feel makes them less suited to large items. Once baked, Sculpey Ultralight is also very carvable. Because it bakes below 300F, you can include all styles of wire (steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, silver, etc.) as well as glass. We don't recommend putting any sort of plastic into your oven, as it could melt, which smells awful and these odors can be toxic. (The Sculpey Ultralight is non-toxic and safe for a home oven.) Please feel free to send any more questions or concerns, and we're happy to answer them!

**Q: Is this clay sturdy after baking? Would I be able to make faux coins without it breaking in half?**
A: I think you will do fine with faux coins...as someone who has used this product a lot, however I tend to make a lot "bigger" things....I have yet to have something crack or break with Sculpey. Oven-baked clay is truly the way to go for LONG-TERM staying power...I will say however, that this ultra light variety is soft...can be squishy at times (the only caveat as I see it) so if you plan to etch any detailed designs into your coins you may be better off with Sculpey original. Good luck :)
