No stinky smell, no bells and whistles, just a nice-size tub of oil. I applied it with a cut-up old sock and it worked great. I appreciated not having to air out my house for a couple of hours. The boots are left darker and smoother, but don't feel greasy. It goes on but leaved these dark dots all over it . And you can't get them to go away. It used to be great but its terrible now **Q: does thisproduct come from pigs or cows?** A: Neatsfoot oil comes from shin & foot bones (but NOT the hooves) from CATTLE. Mine is from HHP which is a Farnam company (USA) w/a long & good reputation. Mine is clear liquid w/ a yellow tint. On my label it states in ALL CAPS - PURE NEATSFOOT OIL. It does NOT list any other ingredients or additives. Therefore, NEATSfoot means 'cattle', so we can assume it is from cows/cattle & NOT pigs. All I really, really know is that it is GREAT stuff at a VERY good price. **Q: Is it really 100% neatsfoot oil? Or does it contain other compounds?** A: You think so ? Jeez. I can’t answer the question, but buyer beware of some of these products, Lexol equine comes to mind is a watered down product from China. Should be fine if says 100%. But buyer beware. Some say Neatsfoot compound. Definitely a red flag. **Q: Is this good for stretching boots and shoes?** A: I assume you mean to apply neatsfoot oil BEFORE using a shoe stretcher. I have not tried to stretch any of my boots/shoes. But, I have applied it both INside & OUTside of several pairs of my boots & the leather is incredibly soft & significantly water-repellent. I bought a new pair of BeanBoots recently & coated them inside & out before even wearing them. Leather & neatsfoot oil - a phenomenal combination!!!
