It is solid and offers the assurance of good support. I went with the redwood color and it looks so much better than the cheap metal canes. You can even personalize it with a different color ring at the handle's base; there are also options for the wrist strap too. My husband cut off 1-½" and it fits me perfectly. A benefit for me, it does not make metallic clicking when it touches the floor.
