If it helps mine have been through the dishwasher, and seem fine, each time I use them, they could do with with a wipe to polish up, as they do look bit smeary. **Q: Where are the knives actually manufactured? It says designed in UK but are they made in china?** A: Interesting question. I have looked at the box they came in and read the leaflet inside the box but it doesn’t mention where they’re made. I suggest you contact the company direct and ask the question. I’d like to know the answer if you get one. **Q: Are the blades serrated?** A: Hi .... yes the blades are serrated and VERY SHARP. ... a good buy at the right price! !! **Q: The description states that the handle is plastic. True or false? If 'false', it needs editing.** A: The four steak knives that we purchased have very heavy & sturdy, stainless steel handles & certainly NOT plastic. Like the regular cutlery set - stunning, weighty and comfortable. The teeth on the steak knives are among the sharpest I've used. Light cutlery is a pet hate of mine, and the weight in these alone is an assurance of the quality. At the same time, they're not at all uncomfortable to hold. I bought a whole load of new tableware and kitchenware and used Robert Welch for most of it. Expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for. These will last years. I've been using them for around a month now, handwashing and polishing afterwards. They've maintained the finish finish well and there's hardly a scuff or scratch on them. They are safe for dishwasher use but I prefer not to take the chance.
