It has so many wonderful features all in one package. I guess I would start with the fact that it has three cameras. So, when you are going down a pipe or something that has a right angle turn in it, it is always nice to have a side camera to see down that second section of pipe. However, with the two camera versions, you have a 50-50 chance of having the side camera on the correct side to see down the right-angle turn. But with this three 3-camera system, you can just switch to the other side camera. The split screen is also very helpful for this type of pipe investigation. And you have several ways to configure the front and side cameras on the split screen. I guess if there was going to be an enhancement to this split screen, they could possibly show all three cameras at the same time, but I am doing good to just keep track of two cameras at the same time. I guess if you wanted a 3-camera split screen, you could write to the company. I know they take suggestions and the next version of this borescope could very well have it. However, I am quite pleased with the two-camera split screen. The 5” screen is also very helpful to see images, especially during a split screen configuration. It is really nice to have the screen mounted on top of a great handle grip with all of the buttons at your finger-tips. Your trigger finger even has a switch in the back of the handle so that you can quickly turn on a flashlight embedded in the back of the handle in case you are walking with the device in the dark. The buttons give you so many options, but you will need to read the manual to see how to correctly use them because many of the buttons are dual function. And it will probably take you a little time to remember what each one does. The writing on the buttons are not at first indicative of the functions underneath them. However, once you review the functions and how to use them, you will find that they have logically collected the dual functions in the right places. I don’t see any other way that they could pack so many functions in such a small space without doing dual functions. I think once you get used to the functions of the camera, you will appreciate how they are arranged. At least to me, the arrangement is logical. Now next I want to talk about a feature that I am over the moon about. It is the 16 ft cable. Past borescopes that I have used, the cable is very stiff. It is usually covered with a stiff rubber of some sort and in the past, I was afraid to wind and unwind the cable because I was afraid of breaking something inside. On the DS580, the cable is created with a bunch of movable sections, somewhat like the stainless steal hoses that you find on your hand-held shower devices. Of course, this cable is not flimsy like a shower device, but it is so flexible while having the right stiffness to push it through a pipe successfully. I had no fear unwinding and winding it back up each time I used it. I could tell I was not twisting the cable the wrong way because of the flexible sections. And these sections also make it easier to bend the front camera at a 90 degree angle if you require doing that. I know it may seem silly for me to be this excited about the cable, but I can’t help myself. I just think this was a very great improvement over other borescopes I have used. I guess time will tell if this cable can hold up to constant movement, but so far it has functioned great. The images on the screen are clear. Now do not think that you can point the camera outside and get a great picture of a forest of something far away. The focal length of the camera is such that it is for close range. However, in the video that I have supplied, you will see that it can very clearly display writing on labels and if the subject of the camera is not too far away, it can still give a clear picture. The last image on my video shows me putting the camera into the downspout of my gutters. As I am moving the camera to the downspout, you will see various colorful vegetation around the downspout and both the images and color are great. The device also comes with tips for the camera end. There is a protecting ring that you should install on the tip before using the camera to protect the fine threads on the end. However, you can change out that protecting ring with a hook end for the camera or a magnetic end for the camera. You could find these very helpful to fish out a wedding ring out of a drain with the hook or recovering a steel screw from under a cabinet with the magnet. I also like that the borescope is water proof. I have submerged the camera under water and it worked fine. I am also very happy with how the cable attaches to the device. It is a very secure connection. The device comes with a memory card already installed and formatted. So, you are ready to take pictures and videos right from the start. Of course, the videos that I have supplied came from those I took using that very memory card. I hope you can see from my above description why I am so happy with this device and give it 5 stars. I have not even scratched the surface of what this device could be used for. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality, low price, toward the stiffer end of the borescope spectrum. *by E***E on June 28, 2025* This seems like a high quality product. Nice clear images, and everything seems pretty sturdy and well thought out, including the case. The hook attachment is a bit soft and tends to bend easily, but I am undecided as to whether that is a pro or a con. If I had the probe stuck somewhere, I would appreciate being able to bend the hook open so that I could get it back out! If you plan on extracting anything that will require much force, you may want to consider a mechanical grabber or a homemade hook of some kind along side the borescope. This model does not allow you to control the angle of the head, so it can be a bit difficult to get it to follow the path that you intend, but it is semi-stiff, so you can reach places without it drooping under its own weight. It may be stiffer than you'd want for following bends in plumbing, etc. Maybe get one with side-to-side tip control for that. Overall I am impressed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You will be glad you have this when you need it! *by T***E on May 26, 2023* This is a high quality instrument that comes in a very strong waterproof case. The case protects it very well and will keep it becoming damaged especially when it is out in the elements. The whole unit appears to be very well constructed and versatile. The cable length is more than adequate for what I have used it for. It is a strong cable that holds its shape when you insert it, but can be bent and formed to move within your work. The control head is easy to use and understand after reading the instructions. When it is turned on the buttons are backlit which helps a lot.I have used it twice since I recently received it. My first project was to look at a hose bib that comes out of the crawl space under my house. I was able to put the scope into a vent hole and quickly look at it. It worked great until I got into the fiberglass insulation and lost visibility. My second project involved looking into one of the furnace ducts on my boat. I was able to move the camera down into the duct to look for obstructions. The cable had enough give in it that it moved through a bend in the duct without fighting it.I have used both the still pictures and the video. I did not post any videos here because of the size of the files, but it works great. Pictures are very easy to take by simply pressing one button with your thumb while holding the control head. A micro SD card comes installed so all you have to do is charge the unit with the enclosed cable and you are good to go. You can download the videos/pictures directly from the unit with the USB charging cord, or you can easily remove the micro SD card, put it in an adapter and then into your computer.This is not a tool, but an instrument. It is not something I will use everyday, but I will definitely be using it often when I need to see into tight spots, or into areas that are not otherwise accessible. Being able to take pictures and video is a real plus when it comes to being able to share them with others. As a person living somewhat remotely in Alaska where I need to be more self reliant, this is great to have in the shop. I expect that my neighbors will be grabbing it for projects when they find out I have it!
