The scars generally are lighter in appearance with some completely disappearing. This is my first time treating the scarring so some of it is years old. I do suspect that it might be less effective over time, but I will continue to use it for the recommended 60 days or until the tube runs out. I estimate I have at least 60% of my tube left.
