Instead, she was attracted to the small metal links which attached all of the pieces together. She opened the links one by one causing the pieces to fall to the bottom tray of her playstand. When I noticed she was doing this, I was fearful that she may swallow some of those links, so I took the entire toy and all of the metal pieces away from her. I looked for signs of her choking or having difficulty breathing, but didn't see any; so I thought that we were safe and that she hadn't actually eaten any of them. Apparently not so! She died unexpectedly a week later. There were no signs of any injury, and I later remembered that she was chewing on all of those metal pieces.
