You must have a landline for this phone to work. It comes with a standard phone jack connection. The cradle is easy to install. Included is an extra screw as well as a tiny screwdriver. Yes, the cradle is supposed to be loose and wobble a bit from side to side once it is attached. The ring tone on mine is a digital sound which actually I like instead of a buzzer or traditional bell sound. The ring volume can be adjusted from low to high. I keep mine on low. This phone fits in with well my Victorian decor and I could not be happier! The white floral phone is push button and was a bit more difficult to set up as you have to program date/time/area code. The display is hard to see and I had to use a flashlight in order to see what I was doing. But once it was set up once you lift the handset it lights up a beautiful blue and is easy to see. I put the white one in my bedroom. Also has a digital ring tone.
