Review: Pretty - Potted them straight away and they're already looking strong and lucious. Can see they will just get nicer and fuller when bigger. Germination rate was ok but plenty of seeds there so not a problem. Lovely exotic flowers to spruce up the garden on a budget
Review: no idea what i grew!!!! - i have to give this product 1 star as it turns out they aren't what they are supposed to be. I followed the instructions carefully, I kept them in the fridge for the right period of time. I have had the seeds out in the right temperature and I was thrilled to see 8 out of the 30 start to shoot fairly quickly. yippee I though. its only when one of then started to flower that I realised they aren't what they are supposed to be, the leaves don't look like the proper leaves the whole seedlings are just growing long and thin with leaves coming off the main stem. very disppointed

## Questions & Answers

**Q: When do they flower? Will they tolerate an alkaline soil?**
A: As a hobby gardener only, my understanding of bulb plants is that there will be no flower until the bulb reaches a certain size, and the flowers won't be large and impressive until the bulb is large and impressive. My experience of Alliums (smaller varieties than this one) that are planted as *seed* is that the seeds take several weeks to germinate and the plant will do not much at all in the first year. At the end of the first season you will have, with luck, a small bulb that will expand in the second and third year. Apparently the bulb takes at least a couple of years to grow to a really good size. The ones I planted as seeds (not this variety) well over a year ago are still far too small to flower. The long development time is, I presume, why the big Allium bulbs cost £5 each in garden centres. So, my suggestion, if not already too late, is that you grow these seeds in a tray, then in pots for a year or two and see how they develop. Take them out of the pots in mid-autumn, or whenever whatever stalks they produce die back, and inspect the bulbs for rot and pest damage, and then replant in late winter / early spring. They might need protection from onion flies.

**Q: Are they seeds or bulbs**
A: Hi they were seeds I brought however I have not planted seeds because I found bulbs on a shopping trip and now they are growing nicely now. I’m now waiting till September to plant seeds.

**Q: Do they have an expiry date? Also when’s the best time to plant them?**
A: Although the seeds are de-hydrated and can be stored from one year to the next it’s generally a rule of thumb that seeds should be sewn in the spring after the ground thaws for summer flowering plants.
A good tip is to soak the seeds overnight in Luke warm water this speeds up the germination period of the seeds and enhances their germination period. HOT water will destroy the seeds so temperatures is critical dry on tissue paper before sowing.
Steven W.

**Q: When do you sow the seeds?**
A: Have stared the m off in seed trays in cold fra mme,not expectim them to grow till late may at earliest onwards.x

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Try heated propagator
*by S***Y on 10 May 2018*

I put some of these seeds straight into a heated propagator, covered them with vermiculite and they sprouted in 4 days. Don't think I'll need the ones I am trying in the fridge. Came with great description and packaging. Edit: fridge method work too. I got like 10 seedlings out of a small try. Just remember to keep it from drying out.
