These chairs are very sturdy, comfortable and nice looking. They are VERY hard to open. I'm a 66 year old woman. I had to lay them on the floor, tilt the seat out, place a foot on the bar that connects the back legs and pull the seat up. Luckily, I can store them without folding them up. My only issue is the color. My dining set is dark cherry, these chairs are a closer match to my medium oak kitchen set. They are very attractive and sturdy when set up. They will easily hold the weight of a large sized adult. We were also surprised at how nice the wood finish was on all the chairs we bought--no stain drips or color variations. The finish is kind of a satin non-reflective medium dark cherry color. These chairs have a seat height of about 18 1/2 inches and the seat width measured at the front edge is 17 inches wide so they will easy fit extra people around a table. The only problem is these chairs are very hard to open, I mean a real struggle. We are going to try some spray lubricant and hope the mechanisms loosen up with use.
