They fit snug however there is not a lot of give in the fabric so not quite as comfortable and you have to really make sure you get the right size. because of the lack of stretch the back can ride a little low when you are sitting. The material is synthetic with a waffled texture on the inside. The inside feels similar to higher end polypropylene or fleece while the outside is smoother in texture.These Minus33 are probably my least favorite, however still a good pair of bottoms. Leaps and bounds better than the old school waffle polyester long johns. I personally prefer a little snugger fit. These fit a little looser. If you like a looser fit or if you are a heavier set person these may work better for you. I'm 5'6" 155lbs. I've only washed it a couple times so I can't comment on how well it will hold up. Will provide an update next year.The Helly Hansens are my favorite of the bunch. These keep me warm during workouts, and I never have problems with overheating or being too cold on regular workouts. I would suggest guys wear something more to keep out the wind in certain places, but other than that they work great. My only complaint is that the ankles are not as tight as i would prefer, tending to bunch up a little. However I have another pair similar to these that I have had for over ten years and recently discovered and they work just as well.
