Manufacturer's Description Gone are the days of a ticking clock keeping you awake at night as the ‘Sweeper’ alarm clock features a silent sweep second hand. The analogue dial lights up at the push of a button, and the luminescent hands are visible in the dark.

Review: An alarm can hear! - I wanted a new alarm clock as I am a bit deaf and my old clock wasn't waking me up, my husband would kick me to turn it off! This one is perfect , it gradually gets louder but I can usually hear it as soon as it goes off but it's not one of those that gives you a heart attack because it is so loud. It doesn't tick, so if you don't like any sound in the room then it's great. It has a clever face that lights up as it gets dark and goes off as it gets light, you can turn that off if you don't want a glowing clock. You can press the top of the clock to light up the face to see the time in the dark. It's quite a large clock - about 4" high, has very clear, easy to read numbers - great for anyone a bit short sighted. It feels well made and it very easy to set the time and alarm using a button to turn on the back of the clock - much better than my previous digital clock that needed a book to explain how to set it up! Would definitely recommend this clock.

Who wants to do that when they're snug in bed? My problem was I've no bedside table or handy socket on my side. The clock has to go on a chest of drawers almost a metre away. With no power point battery power seemed the ideal. The clock has a number of poor reviews, but with an overall 4star rating I thought I'd try it, and over 12 months later I'm glad I did. It was easily set up. Once the battery was in it was up and running. It lights up very clearly at night, and the light is controlled by a sensor so during the day it switches off. Having this lighting facility made me dubious as to how long it would be before I needed to replace the 3 AA cells it uses. I needn't have worried. They have just died after just over 12 months continuous use. That's still relatively expensive I suppose, as I'd expect an ordinary clock to run for that time on a single cell. I still think it's worth it though for the convenience. It would be easy to switch the lighting facility off in the morning and on again at bedtime, so the light does not come on in the evening. This would probably lead to a reasonable saving, but I wonder if it's worth the effort. The only problem for me is that I'm shortsighted, and to give me any chance of reading it I have to have it as close as possible to me on the chest of drawers, but I can hardly blame the clock for my deficient eye sight. One way the design could be improved for myopic folk like me would be to make the hands solid, rather than cut out. So for me this clock is almost perfect. From the negative reviews it would seem there may be some problems with quality control, but fortunately I seem to have got a good one, and from the overall 4 star rating most are good, so it's worth a chance if you're looking for a clock like this.

I wanted a new alarm clock as I am a bit deaf and my old clock wasn't waking me up, my husband would kick me to turn it off! I bought this clock after an unfortunate coffee incident with my old clock. Anyway the main factors I wanted in my new clock was silence and a dim back light as I prefer to have it on all the time so I can see the time through squinted eyes during the night without having to press a button to illuminate. Surprisingly enough this was actually a lot harder a task than first expected! After considering the reviews on this one I went ahead and it was delivered in good time. Upon setting the clock I was relieved and pleased to notice it was indeed silent, no annoying ticking noises. The numbers are quite big and clear and the alarm is easy enough to set etc. So far so good. The big test however was how bright the backlight was which unfortunately is the reason why I cannot give this clock 5 stars. Although it is supposed to only give a dim green backlight, I find this way too bright for me. If the light illuminates everything on my bedside table and manages to penetrate through my eyelids, it's too light in my opinion! lol Overall I like the clock but have had to revert to pressing the top button during the night if I want to see the time. Good clock if you don't mind a bit of light in your room.
