When you have a bunch of aerial sockets with wires running back to a single location, you can use this tool to identify which wire goes to which location. This assumes that all wires and all sockets have no faults. If you have a socket with bad or poor reception then this tool won't help you identify what's causing the poor reception. If you have a socket with no reception at all and you can tell without doubt that you are connecting the tool to the other end of the wire running to that socket then you can identify whether there is a break in the wire or a short circuit along the length of the wire. **Q: How many remotes actually come with it. Descriptions points to 2 & picture shows 4** A: It comes with 4 different coloured remotes. That light up the corresponding colours on the handheld unit. **Q: Can this be used if you don't have access to the other end of the Coax? e.g. if you want to test if your cable pull is good before ordering broadband?** A: No, this isn’t a signal tester. This is used to identify the cable and requires access to both ends of the cable. **Q: Can the coax cable be traced if the terminated end is still connected to say an amplifier. Need something where i dont have to remove all cables** A: Unfortunately not, this goes directly on the terminated end.
