I was skeptical when the dress arrived because of it course was packaged in the worst way. It was a crumpled mess when I took it out. As a result I needed time to iron and steam it before the ceremony.TIPS ON IRONINg: I turned it inside out (it was actually delivered that way) I used a iron set slightly above the silk setting to iron ONLY the first inside layer, the inside part and what would show on the outside. The stitching wasn’t perfect on this layer but you wouldn’t see it. For the bodice of the dress I put cotton between the iron and dress and ironed that as well.Then I turned it right side in and pulled up the first two layers of tulle in order to work on steaming the first layer of tulle. This took awhile. Granted I was using a travel steamer. For the second and third layers (the third layer contains the sparkle, which is silver) I sprayed downy wrinkle release to loosen it up and those layers were easier to steam. I pinned up the last layer, steamed the middle and then finally did the top layer. With the small steamer I carefully steamed those two top layers from the inside facing out as well. This took time but was absolutely worth it because the once crumbled, crunchy dress was now fluffed out and pretty. CONS: One con with the layers is that the tulle was not cut evenly and the layer with the glitter was missing glitter spots on fairly large sections of the bottom but because of my daughter’s height you couldn’t tell.SIZING: Speaking of height…She is 42 inches and weighs 38.5lbs and wore a size 4. The dress seems to run long. I wish there would that been a way to bustle the dress up so she could dance without tripping. We rigged it and it worked out fine.BIGGEST ISSUE: My biggest complaint is the bow which is removable. Great cool. I had to iron that as well and that went fine BUT the pin to secure it to the dress was held onto the bow with two tiny stitches and there was no clear spot where to but the bow on the back of the dress so we guessed. The fabric where this is, is thick and the pin was difficult to get through. Once we did and closed the pin area the bow started secure until one of small stitches broke so we ended up leaving it off the rest of the night which was disappointing because it was so pretty.OVERALL IMPRESSION: So if you get this dress I would suggest hemming it straight, making time to iron/steam it well, reinforce the bow by either sowing it directly to the dress or add more loops to the pin area so it will be more secure. I think having a way to bustle it is a good idea too because when my daughter stood tall the dress was perfect but when she leaned forward she was stepping on it and tripping some. We had no issues with the glitter getting anywhere or the light few sequence on the bodice coming off. She got so many compliments on her dress and overall it was a good purchase and I would buy it again for sure. Hopefully at a lower price point so I can have those little things fixed.
