I have used a 64 oz bottles for 10 years and you just have to remember to clean them. I replace the straw lid every 2 months or so. Also remember to clean the straw lid with the supplied brush under hot water. I recommend buying a flask cleaning brush to scrub the inside. Bacteria tends to build up at the bottom of the flask, around the cap seal and where the straw attaches to the cap. **Q: I need to fill it with water and throw it in my backpack, will it leak?** A: there might be a small condensation on the outside of the bottle if you put ice cold water in it.
