In most cases you'd likely need to build out a new internal frame to hold the springs, since they need to be fully bolted down, not just screwed into the sides of your existing bed frame. It needs a very solid support structure to withstand the pressure of the springs. The instructions were pretty vague, and it doesn't include hardware for attaching the bed slats to the hinges, so you'll have to figure that part out on your own. At the first test fit, I was worried that the springs wouldn't be able to close. They weren't budging at all under the weight of the mattress and slats. However, once I got everything solidly bolted together and aligned, it just needed a firm push to close up. The hinges do have a bit of side to side wiggle (probably more noticable for me since I had to install them closer to the center of the frame rather than at the outer edges), so you have to be a little bit careful about guiding it straight down. But overall I'm very satisfied with the project, and happy to gain a few more square feet of storage! Much waste of time and money. **Q: I purchased one of these but need stronger pneumatics, as the bed is heavier than expected. Can I purchase just a heavier piston? If so, where?** A: The bed that I built is quite heavy and it supports me for my needs. What I did add was a cap so that it does not go down alone. You can search for these more consistently as these in particular are good. **Q: Is the 30 kg rating the capacity of each strut or the pair of struts together?** A: It came as a pair. However, I would not recommend these. They arrived with no instructions and would not install properly on my RV queen bed.
