## Description

Product Description ABOUT ARDUINO Arduino is the world’s leading open-source hardware and software ecosystem. The Company offers a range of software tools, hardware platforms and documentation enabling almost anybody to be creative with technology. Originally started as a research project by Massimo Banzi, David Cuartielles, Tom Igoe, Gianluca Martino, and David Mellis at the Interaction Design Institute of Ivrea in the early 2000s, it builds upon the Processing project, a language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts developed by Casey Reas and Ben Fry as well as a thesis project by Hernando Barragan about the Wiring board. WHY ARDUINO? Inexpensive Arduino boards are relatively inexpensive compared to other microcontroller platforms. The least expensive version of the Arduino module can be assembled by hand, and even the pre-assembled Arduino modules cost not so high. Simple, clear programming environment The Arduino Software (IDE) is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users to take advantage of as well. For teachers, it's conveniently based on the Processing programming environment, so students learning to program in that environment will be familiar with how the Arduino IDE works. Open source and extensible software The Arduino software is published as open source tools, available for extension by experienced programmers. The language can be expanded through C++ libraries, and people wanting to understand the technical details can make the leap from Arduino to the AVR C programming language on which it's based. Similarly, you can add AVR-C code directly into your Arduino programs if you want to. Open source and extensible hardware The plans of the Arduino boards are published under a Creative Commons license, so experienced circuit designers can make their own version of the module, extending it and improving it. Even relatively inexperienced users can build the breadboard version of the module in order to understand how it works and save money. ARDUINO CLASSICS Message from Massimo Banzi - co-founder “The Arduino philosophy is based on making designs rather than talking about them. It is a constant search for faster and more powerful ways to build better prototypes. We have explored many prototyping techniques and developed ways of thinking with our hands.” MOST POPULAR OF CLASSICS Arduino Uno R3 The ideal board for getting started with electronics, through fun and engaging hands-on projects. Arduino Due Perfect for powerful larger scale projects, the Arduino Due is based on a 32-bit ARM core microcontroller. Arduino Leonardo with Headers Microcontroller board based on the ATmega32u4 that has built-in USB communication. Arduino Mega 2560 Rev3 Designed for your most ambitious projects which require additional pins and extra memory. Ideal for devices like 3D printers. ARDUINO CREATE Connect, Create, Collaborate Arduino Create is an integrated online platform that enables Makers and Professional Developers to write code, access content, configure boards, and share projects. Go from an idea to finished IoT project quicker than ever before. With Arduino Create you can use an online IDE, connect multiple devices with the Arduino IoT Cloud, browse a collection of projects on Arduino Project Hub, and connect remotely to your boards with Arduino Device Manager. As well you can share your creations, along with step-by-step guides, schematics, references, and receive feedback from others.

Review: A great device for DIY and robotics projects. - The Arduino Mega 2560 Rev3 is a powerful and versatile development board that is ideal for creating complex projects that require a large number of inputs and outputs, ranging from simple alarms to complex automated systems. It has 54 digital inputs/outputs, 16 analog inputs. You can find a lot of training materials and examples of projects on the Internet, which makes it easier to study and create your own devices. One of the main features of the Arduino Mega 2560 is its large memory capacity - 256 KB. This allows you to create more complicated projects that require a lot of code. Another advantage of the Arduino Mega 2560 is its versatility. The device supports many different sensors, modules and expansion boards, which allows you to adapt it to a variety of tasks. For example, I used it to create a smart home system, as well as to control various mechanisms in my robot. Despite the fact that it costs a little more than other Arduino models, its capabilities and functionality justify the cost. However, the Arduino Mega 2560 has drawbacks, it is quite large and heavy, which can be inconvenient for some projects. Overall, the Arduino Mega 2560 is an excellent choice for those who work on projects with a large number of sensors and actuators.
Review: Excellent product - Good product if you're starting out on Arduino. I've had it for quite a while and did some interesting projects with it. I needed the extra I/O ports it gives. Just a note to other buyers though: This is a genuine Arduino board, but remember that Arduino is open source hardware, and the base components are cheap (even though this is expensive). There are Hong Kong retailers that assemble the same thing for a much cheaper price. I've had one that's 1/4th of the price and works just as well. You could even assemble it yourself if you'd like. This is a good product. If you don't want to try your luck, like I did, get this one, but keep in mind you can get better deals.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this need external power or does it power through usb connection?? If external what power supply is recommended?**
A: Hi, the answer is both - either - but not at the same time!
When you are downloading a sketch, the USB powers things, but for remote running in a project, it will run off 7-12 volts into a jack. I have an old HDD psu that plugs into the mains and gives 12v at 1.5 amps, and that's fine. I hope this helps

**Q: can I use any usb cable for this? I can't find a cable that states it is compatible. Amazon's earch is no good. sort it out.**
A: You will require a USB cable type 1,2 or 3 with the other end a USB type B plug as per the image shown of the Arduino board and the type B socket [upper left] on the Mega board in order to upload sketches. The lower black socket is for a standard 9V din plug. I'm not sure if the Amazon offer includes a cable or not, it does not make that clear.

**Q: is this an original arduino board?**
A: The official Arduino website are selling the MEGA 2560 R3 at 35 euros (+ tax). They also have this information available free for you to assess whether the arduino you have is authentic. https://www.arduino.cc/en/Products/Counterfeit I cannot tell from the information you have posted, but it does seem about the same price as a genuine board.

**Q: Does this really have WiFi?**
A: Hello,

The board has an ATmega2560 which has 54 digital input/output connections (14 of which can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog outputs, 4 UARTs, a 16 MHz processor, a USB connection, a power connection. Operating voltage 5V.

Best regards,
Lemona electronics

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mega!
*by A***H on 28 July 2014*

Ah, an old friend. I love these boards. They are great to use. They can be a little expensive at first sight but they come with lots of IO & fair amount of muscle. I've just done about 4 projects using these. Simple to use. Free development environment downloadable from the Arduino website. The language is C & the function set seems pretty good for such a small board.
