The Usborne Illustrated Odyssey (Illustrated Originals)

Both myself and my 5 year old grandson enjoyed the whole book immensely.

A very good read for my son (8).

Good reading, very good quality, nice pictures. However, this book doesn’t seem to be appropriate for the age 8-10. It’s difficult to read, sentences are complex and include sexual references. Also, descriptions of killing soldiers are pretty realistic and not age appropriate.

The 9 year old recipient says he really likes this book!

My son loves everything Greek gods and enjoyed this book. It is written well for his age.

The book is beautiful and the story is retold vividly indeed. Although the book is advertised for 8-10 year olds, I do not think it’s the right age group for it. Of course any 8 year old should be able to follow the story but (s)he won’t enjoy it that much because of rather complex sentences and vocabulary. Thus, the book can be appropriated for educational purposes at this age but not for leisure reading (especially not bed time reading unless the goal is to bord you child to sleeping). Given its complexity level I’d argue it’s a book for 10-12 year olds. But otherwise the book is absolutely beautiful and a must-have. Five stars.

I have read it along with my 8 year olds...We loved it totally...

I bought it because my daughter ( 9 yo) was so interested in Greek myths. She loved the story of Odysseus. The book is great with nice pictures and good story
