It gives a halo effect on the photo which is perfect for a portrait. The light is adjustable, both vertically on the frame and back and forth in front of the portrait. I was going to purchase a timer to be able to control when the light comes on each day but it has one built in. You wait until the time you want it to come on, turn it on, and press the number of hours you want. I turned it on at 4:30 pm and then pushed 6 hours (it will flash to let you know it’s on a timer). Now it turns on every day at 4:30 pm and turns off at 10:30 pm. Amazing! It is a very sturdy light, not flimsy at all. It is definitely more along the rose-gold color, more copper than true brass, but is very attractive. I didn’t like the wire hanging down the wall so I purchased a wire cover channel, ran it down the wall and along the baseboard and am waiting for an outlet cover for the plug. Looks professional and blends well. The plug is vertical so it doesn’t stick out on the wall. Definitely a good purchase for much less than many other lights.
